The Stz’uminus First Nation has lived around the Salish Sea since time immemorial. Today, Stz’uminus First Nation traditional territories include four reserves of more than 1,200 hectares around the Salish Sea and Ladysmith Harbour.

Oyster Bay 12

106 ha in area, located along the Trans Canada Highway to the north of the Town of Ladysmith.

65 acres of land at Oyster Bay are dedicated to a master-planned community: Oyster Bay Village.

To support the needs of a growing community the commercial area features commercial, retail and office space. Anchor tenants include: Husky, A&W, Esso, Tim Hortons, Ladysmith & District Credit Union, BC Liquor Store and the new Microtel Hotel.

Together they form the heart of Oyster Bay Village.

Chemainus 13 – Thuqmin

1,083 ha in area, located along Deer Point and the peninsula between Ladysmith Harbour and Stuart Channel.

Here the Stz’uminus people had established villages in Kulleet Bay and Shell Beach. Today, Chemainus 13 – Thuqmin includes the community hub, comprised of a community centre, daycare, primary and secondary school and the Stz’uminus Health and Elders Centre.

Say-La-Quas 10

6 ha in area, borders the Chemainus River, and is landlocked and currently unoccupied.

Squaw-Hay-One 11

31 ha in area, located just to the southeast of the Town of Chemainus.
