Stz’uminus First Nation has full jurisdiction of land management on Stz’uminus reserve.
In 2013 Stz’uminus First Nation members voted for First Nation Lands Management and passed our Land Code, which means that Stz’uminus operates under the First Nations Land Management Regime and has management authority and law-making powers over its reserve lands. The Land Code is Stz’uminus’ basic land law and replaces the land management provisions of the Indian Act.
The Individual Agreement is the negotiated agreement between Canada and Stz’uminus that lays out the transfer of land management from Canada to Stz’uminus First Nation.
Having our own land code enables us to process development and building applications in a timely manner and make developing property on Stz’uminus lands easy.
